Compassionate and Affordable

I am painfully aware of the anxieties people have when they are considering therapy: will the therapist be open to what I am saying?, will I be supported?, is this therapist right for me? I offer a 30-minute phone consultation so these concerns can be alleviated before we even get started. We can get to know one another and see if we are a good match. And even better, it won’t cost you a dime!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist providing individual, couple, and family therapy for a wide range of relationship and personal challenges. Working in a peaceful, confidential environment, I believe that, like a pebble dropped into a quiet pond, change in any individual has a ripple effect through the family, extending into the community, and eventually the world. There may be times you will find me active, asking many questions, as we explore those behaviors that may be preventing you from reaching your goals. Other times I can be quiet, assimilating information shared to get a better picture of where we need to go in our work. Either way, our relationship will be a “collaborative” one, with your best interests at heart.

Typical topics of discussion in marriage therapy are infidelity, loss of intimacy, unresolved conflict, power struggles, communication issues, incompatibility and divorce. Family therapy may consist of adoption and foster care, children’s school performance, and persistent family conflict. Individual therapy may be useful in resolving issues of depression, anxiety, addiction, spiritual concerns, and loss and grief.

As we are in the midst of a global pandemic, it has been incumbent upon the practice to offer our clients the opportunity to conduct therapy over the internet. While COVID-19 is first and foremost on your mind, you don't need to suffer in silence. The practice uses an app called ZOOM which is a HIPAA-compliant application to connect your electronic device, be it your telephone or laptop with a camera, to the office via the internet. What does it mean to be HIPAA compliant and why is it important? To be HIPAA compliant means that whatever is shared between client and therapist stays between client and therapist. It is as if you are in the office with the therapist. The app has the necessary controls to maintain the confidentiality of the information passed between the client and therapist. This means the client has the ability to access therapeutic services from almost anywhere and there are no additional fees to use this method.

Getting started is easy. One downloads the ZOOM app from the Apple store or wherever one gets their apps. The therapist sends you an invitation to attend a meeting and when you open the app, it allows you the option to join a meeting. You input the meeting number and secure password provided by the therapist. The app makes the connection and the session begins with the client and therapist seeing each other face-to-face.

My approach is to look at you in relation to your environment, to understand your needs and concerns. I wish to be as human as possible-open, understanding, and emotionally accessible as we both try to comprehend the human experience. I would be honored to work with you to achieve your goals. Please call 805-870-5344 or click the button below to contact me for an individual, couples, or family therapy consultation today.
